The Ivins City Sewer Division is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of the city’s sanitary sewer collection system. Our mission is to safely transport wastewater from homes and businesses to regional treatment facilities, protect public health, and prevent environmental contamination.
We are committed to maintaining reliable service, reducing sewer overflows, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Ivins City operates a gravity-based sanitary sewer collection system composed of:
Miles of sewer main lines throughout neighborhoods and commercial areas
Manholes and cleanouts for access and inspection
Lift stations to pump wastewater where gravity flow isn’t possible
Connections to the City of St George to connect to the St George Regional Water Reclamation Treatment Plan
Our crews conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and cleaning to keep the system functioning efficiently and to prevent backups, odors, and blockages.
To keep our sewer system working properly, residents and businesses must avoid flushing or draining items that can cause clogs, backups, or damage.
Never flush or pour down drains:
Put these in the trash, not the toilet. Grease and wipes are the leading causes of sewer backups in homes and city lines.
If you experience a sewer backup in your home or business:
Stop water use immediately – Avoid running sinks, showers, or appliances.
Call Ivins Public Works right away at (435) 634-0689 during business hours or our emergency dispatch line (435) 634-5730 after hours.
Do not attempt to open manholes or enter sewer facilities.
City staff will assess whether the problem is in the city’s line or your private lateral line. If it’s in the city’s system, we will resolve it as quickly as possible.
Ivins City residents are billed monthly for sewer services through their utility bill.
Sewer fees support system maintenance, line replacement, emergency response, and capacity planning.
